Seeding the Kingdom
My interest in the stories we tell and my discovery of the exciting process of gelatin plate mono-printing came together in the fertile ground of Bavarian historian Franz Xaver von Schonwerth’s 500 lost fairy tales, The Turnip Princess. Discovered in 2012, seventy-two of these stories have been translated and published.
Fairy tales connect us to the past, to our imaginations and the realms of magic, and remind us of our intrinsic connection to the earth, in tiny kingdoms where the king and the gardener’s roles are bound together – parts of the whole.
